A neighborhood bar with a long memory.
Finnegans Wake opened in Noe Valley in 1976. In 1989 it moved to 937 Cole Street, a room with a history of its own: for more than two decades it had been Maud’s, San Francisco’s first lesbian bar, which opened in 1966.
The bar took over the space gladly and kept the spirit. Finnegans continues the tradition of San Francisco’s beloved neighborhood bars, where all are welcome. Today it is still the place Cole Valley comes to watch the game, play a rack of pool, and stay for one more.
